Apple Festival 5K

Event Overview

The Apple Festival 5K is the 50th annual edition of this event. It is presented by the Ellijay Lions Club and serves as the start of the Georgia Apple Festival. It is noted as one of the longest-running 5K events in Georgia.

The event includes three options:

• 5K
• Fun Run
• Virtual 5K

Event Details

The race takes place on Saturday, October 10, 2026, in Ellijay, Georgia. The address is 32 McCutchen St. The 5K course is described as a double loop, starting with a loop through downtown Ellijay and returning via Old Highway 5 and McCutchen Street.

Race day registration is available for $40 per person. Packet pickup and registration begin at 7:00 AM. The 5K starts at 8:00 AM and the Fun Run starts at 8:45 AM. Awards are presented starting at 9:15 AM.

Awards are described as unique and are given to overall, masters, and grand masters winners, as well as age group winners in 5-year increments from 10 and under up to 80 and over.

Participant Information

Participants who register by October 2, 2026, are guaranteed a race shirt. Registrations after that date and on race day do not guarantee a shirt or specific size. Refreshments are provided after the race.

The race is timed by BT Race Timing, but it is not chip-timed. Participants receive a finish card to fill out with their name, age, bib number, and gender, which must be turned in at a results board to be eligible for awards. Complete results are posted online after the event.

Free parking is available around Ellijay Elementary School. Runners should be aware that roads may be blocked as the Apple Festival begins immediately after the race.

For the Virtual 5K option, runners must submit their time by noon on October 11, 2026. Virtual participants do not receive bibs, shirts, or awards.
