Anthem Sprint Triathlon : event description
The Anthem Sprint Triathlon is a reverse-order triathlon held at the Anthem Community Center in Anthem, Arizona. The adult distance consists of a 5 km out-and-back run on sidewalks, a 20 km bike route completed in three loops on designated lanes separated from traffic, and a pool swim completed as two pool loops. The kid’s course includes a 1/2 mile out-and-back run, a single 4.5 mile bike loop on the same designated-lane circuit, and a 200 m pool swim. Helmets are required on the bike for all participants. The swim uses lane-based, one-way traffic with overtaking accommodated by the lane pattern.
Timing is provided with RFID ankle chips that must be worn and returned after the race. The event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon; participants must hold an annual membership or purchase a one-day membership. Racer amenities include a long sleeve hoodie, post-race refreshments, finisher medals for all participants, and awards for top finishers. Overall and age-group awards are given for adult divisions, with additional awards for Clydesdales, Athenas, and relay teams. Parking is centered at the community center with overflow at Anthem Community Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
