About the race
The 54th Annual Newark Turkey Trot is held at Norma B. Handloff Park in Newark, Delaware on November 21, 2026. It is described as Delaware’s oldest consecutive road race and offers both 10K and 5K distances.
The course is USATF certified and runs through residential areas with rolling hills. The 10K route is two loops. Chip timing is provided by R2R Timing using the MYLAPS BibTag Timing System. Results and race photos are posted online after the event.
Race awards include overall first through third places for male and female finishers and age-group awards. The 10K uses five-year age groups; the 5K includes multiple age brackets extending into 80+. Post-race refreshments and a raffle are provided, and vendors will be on site with information and products. The first 500 registered participants receive shirts. Shirt and bib pick-up is available at the Newark Municipal Building on Friday for pre-registered participants and at Handloff Park on the day of the event.
The event benefits the James F. Hall Scholarship Fund, which provides tuition assistance for youth activities and programs through the Newark Parks and Recreation Department.
