3rd Annual Charity for Rarity 5K
The Maurya Koduri Foundation presents the third annual Charity for Rarity 5K, a community event focused on raising awareness and funds for research into SPG4, a form of hereditary spastic paraplegia. The event is described as fully inclusive and brings together runners, walkers, wheelchair users, families and supporters. A virtual run option is offered in addition to in-person participation.
The event takes place on August 23, 2026, at Wabounsie Lake Park Trail in Aurora, Illinois. Ticket prices range from $15 to $25 for the listed admission types. Registered participants receive items and activities associated with the event, including a T-shirt, wristband, games, raffle prizes and an artwork auction.
The foundation notes that SPG4 is an ultra rare, progressive neurodegenerative condition with limited government funding and no current cure to reverse or stop progression. Funds and donations raised through the event are intended to support research and related efforts for affected children, adults and families. The event description emphasizes community participation across mobility types and multiple ways to join, in-person or virtually. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
