Run the Rails : Elburn, IL : August 22, 2026
Run the Rails, presented by the Elburn Parks Commission, is an organized running event held at Prairie Park (3rd and North Street, near the library) in Elburn, Illinois. The event offers three distinct course options and uses disposable chip timing attached to race bibs for all distances. The courses cross the Union Pacific West rail line via the Anderson Road bridge, providing elevated views of Elburn and the surrounding countryside. Packet pickup is available before race day at local partner locations.
Distances
- 1 Mile Fun Run
- 4 Mile Run
- 7 Mile Run
Participants must wear their race bibs on the front of their clothing so the timing chip can be read. Smart watches and smartphones can interfere with the timing chip; recorded times from these devices will not be accepted for official timing disputes. Pre-race packet pickup is offered at Pro Fusion in Geneva and Knight Club Nutrition in Elburn on the two days before the event. Race day registration is available for an additional fee. To guarantee a racerback or tank top at packet pickup, registration and the apparel option must be completed by August 11. Awards include medals for all 1 Mile participants ages 1–12 and top three male and female overall plus top three male and female in multiple age groups for the 4 and 7 mile races.
