SMG 5K Race & 1 Mile Run : St. Mary of Gostyn, Downers Grove
The event takes place on August 22, 2026, on and around the streets of the St. Mary of Gostyn Parish campus at 445 Prairie Avenue, Downers Grove, IL 60515. The program includes a timed 1 mile run for youth, a competitive 5K race, and a non-timed 5K walk.

Registration opens May 19. Fees differ by event and age: adults pay $35 for the 5K race and the 5K walk; students 14 and under pay $20 for either the 5K or the 1 mile run. Students 14 and under may register for only one race and must specify which race they will run at registration.
Check-in and packet pick up begin on the Friday before the event and again on race morning in the St. Mary parking lot at 445 Prairie Avenue. All participants who register by August 1 receive a race shirt. Medals will be awarded in several age groups for the 5K race and for the 1 mile run. The non-timed 5K walk does not receive awards.
