About the race
The 14th Annual Andrew Monroe Memorial Scholarship 5K Run/Walk is a community event held in Sarasota, Florida at Siesta Key Beach, with on-site and virtual participation options. Distances include:
- 5K in-person race
- 1 Mile walk
- 5K virtual race
Proceeds support scholarships for Riverview High School senior soccer players, JROTC cadets, and track athletes; remaining funds may grow scholarships at the Sarasota Community Foundation in Andrew Monroe’s name. The event includes pre-race Starbucks coffee, a color guard, and a national anthem opening. Participants may be eligible for roughly 175 door prizes posted on a door prize board after the event. Goodie bags are provided to the first 350 registrants.
Awards follow age groups in five-year increments up to 90 and above. Trophies are presented to Overall, Masters, Grand Masters, Senior Grand Masters, and Veteran Grand Master, with awards through six places in each category and medals to the top three in each category. Per USATF rules, gun time is used for prize money and time bonus determination; chip time is used for age-group results.
Registration fees are listed at $35.00 for each event. Area running club and student discounts apply at checkout through December 19, 2026. In-person registration closes December 18, 2026; virtual registration closes January 7, 2027.
