Event Overview
The 14th Annual Andrew Monroe Memorial Scholarship 5K Run/Walk is held on Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota, Florida. This event serves as a fundraiser to provide scholarships for Riverview High School senior soccer players, JROTC cadets, and track athletes. Funds also contribute to the Sarasota Community Foundation Scholarship program.

- 5K (Virtual Race)
Participation Details
The race course utilizes the sand of Siesta Key Beach. Participants who register early are eligible for goodie bags, which are limited to the first 350 registrants. The opening ceremony includes a color guard and the national anthem, with coffee provided beforehand. After the physical events, 175 door prizes are distributed based on a door prize board. For virtual participants, t-shirts are mailed following the event if selected during the registration period.
Awards and Recognition
The competition follows USATF rules, using gun time for major awards and chip time for age group rankings. Trophies are presented to winners in the following categories:
- Overall
- Masters
- Grand Masters
- Senior Grand Masters
- Veteran Grand Masters
Age group medals are awarded three deep, with recognition extending six deep in categories up to age 90 and above.
Charitable Initiatives
The event organizes collections for local organizations. Participants may bring canned food for Mayors Feed the Hungry, as well as used shoes and clothing for Resurrection House.
