Amberly Sugar Rush
The Amberly Sugar Rush is an annual community event held in the Amberly neighborhood of Cary. The race is organized to support local nonprofit organizations, with proceeds from the current edition designated for Special Olympics North Carolina. The event takes place on Halloween and features festive elements, including awards for the best individual and family costumes.
Participants can choose from several in-person distance options:
- 5 Mile
- 3 Mile
- Fun Mile
- Kids in Strollers (for ages 4 and under)
The courses for the 3 Mile and 5 Mile events pass through the local neighborhood, starting near the Amberly Club House. A course limit is in place, with all routes closing by late morning. For those unable to attend the physical event, virtual versions of the 5 Mile, 3 Mile, and Fun Mile are also available.
Registered participants in the 3 Mile and 5 Mile distances receive a race shirt and a finisher's gift. Fun Mile participants receive a finisher's gift, while shirts for that distance are available separately. The event also features a competitive element with awards for the top three male and female finishers in various age groups, as well as prizes for setting new records on the existing course.
The event utilizes the RaceJoy mobile app, which allows for live GPS tracking and progress alerts for both participants and spectators. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
