28th Annual Allen Stone Braveheart Memorial Races : Virginia Beach
The event takes place on July 10, 2027 at 31st Street Park, 3001 Atlantic Avenue, Virginia Beach, VA. It features in-person and virtual options across several distances and formats.
Race offerings include:
- 7K Run Swim Run: 1K beach run, 1K ocean swim, 5K boardwalk run.
- 5K Run/Walk: out-and-back on the boardwalk; described as flat and scenic.
- 1 Mile Kids Run/Walk: out-and-back on the boardwalk for participants 14 and under.
The in-person 7K Run Swim Run and the 5K include overall and age-group awards. The kids 1 mile awards no placings; all participants in the in-person races receive a race medal. Virtual versions of the Run Swim Run, the 5K, and the 1 mile are offered.
The event began in 1999 as the Braveheart Run Swim Run to benefit the American Heart Association and was later renamed in memory of Allen Stone after his death in a training accident. Since its founding the races have raised more than $1,000,000 for charities including the Navy SEAL Foundation, Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad, and Virginia Beach Lifesaving Association while honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice and their families.
