27th Annual Allen Stone Braveheart Memorial Races
This event began in 1999 as the Braveheart Run Swim Run to benefit the American Heart Association. It was renamed in memory of Allen Stone, a local Navy SEAL who competed in the early race and died later in a training accident.
The program now includes multiple events to involve families and different participants:
- Allen Stone Run-Swim-Run
- Allen Stone 5K Run/Walk
- Allen Stone 1 Mile Kids Run/Walk
The races take place at 31st Street Park, 3001 Atlantic Avenue, Virginia Beach, VA 23451. Over the years the event has raised more than one million dollars for charities, including the Navy SEAL Foundation, the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad, and the Virginia Beach Lifesaving Association, while honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice and their families.
