Albuquerque Marathon and Community Races

The Albuquerque Marathon is a multi-distance running event held in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The 2026 edition marks the inaugural full marathon alongside the 22nd annual half marathon. The courses are characterized as flat and fast, crossing the Rio Grande River and passing through the North Valley Bosque with views of the Sandia Mountains.

The event offers several race categories to accommodate different preferences:

  • Marathon (42.2 km)
  • Half Marathon (21.1 km)
  • 2-Person Half Marathon Relay
  • 10K
  • 5K (Open and 17 & Under categories)
  • Kids K (For ages 1-11)

All participants receive a finisher medal, and tech t-shirts are provided for those in the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K events. Age group and overall awards are presented based on gun time. The marathon has a 6-hour cut-off time, while the half marathon has a 3.5-hour limit.

The races are chip-timed and follow a gun start. For safety, wheeled devices such as strollers and bicycles are prohibited, though dogs are permitted specifically in the 5K event. The race supports Heading Home, a local organization helping individuals experiencing homelessness. Virtual versions of the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K are also available for those unable to attend in person. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
