Alaska Run for Women
The Alaska Run for Women is an annual women’s running event in Anchorage that raises funds and awareness for breast cancer and women’s health. The event has run since 1993 and, according to event materials, has raised more than $6.5 million. It also aims to showcase Alaska’s women athletes and recognizes survivors as part of the program.
The event offers both in person and virtual participation. In person activities return to the UAA campus at 3400 Seawolf Drive, using forested trails and the Cuddy Quad as event space. The campus setting is described as having ample parking throughout.
Event operations and participant services include online registration, team formation, volunteer opportunities, bib pick-up, course maps, race rules, parking and shuttle information, and guidelines for strollers and joggers. Additional event elements listed by the organizer are a raffle, race merchandise, sponsorships for port a potties, photo galleries, results and awards, a Triple Finisher program, and grantmaking related to breast cancer resources. Sponsors and donors from the community and medical organizations are acknowledged in event materials.
