Event Overview
The Alaska Distance Classic is a running event with in-person and virtual options scheduled for August 1, 2026. The in-person events start and finish at 4455 University Dr in Anchorage, on the grounds of Alaska Pacific University (APU). The event includes awareness and a fundraiser for Special Olympics Alaska.
Available Races
Participants can choose from several race formats:
- 5K (in-person and virtual)
- 10K (in-person and virtual)
- 5K/10K Double-Up (in-person and virtual), where runners complete both the 5K and 10K distances
For the in-person Double-Up option, the 5K starts 45 minutes before the 10K, giving participants who choose that challenge time to finish the first race and start the second.
Course and Amenities
The course takes participants through the woods surrounding the University of Alaska and Alaska Pacific University campuses. Finishers of each race distance, including the Double-Up, receive a special finisher award. Root beer floats are mentioned as a post-race refreshment.
