Airport Runway Run at Hiller Aviation Museum
The Airport Runway Run is an annual event held on the runway at San Carlos Airport with the Hiller Aviation Museum serving as the start and finish location. The course includes a full traversal of the airport runway, a paved surface measuring 2,600 feet in length. The event includes both timed, certified races and a short fun run.
Distances offered:
- 2K fun run (untimed)
- 5K certified race with chip timing
- 10K certified race with chip timing
Course and rules are specified for each distance. The 2K and 5K are entirely on paved roads while the 10K combines trail and paved sections. Walkers and runners are permitted; strollers are allowed. Walkers are welcome on the 2K and 5K but walking on the 10K is not recommended because participants must complete that course within 90 minutes. Pets, skateboards, bicycles, and roller blades are not permitted on the course. Entry fees are nonrefundable and registrations may be transferred to another participant.
Awards and participant benefits include prizes for overall first place finishers in the 5K and 10K across man, woman, and nonbinary divisions, age-division awards, and same-day museum admission with a race bib. A post-race fair features refreshments, sponsor booths, and access to museum exhibits and aircraft. Proceeds support the nonprofit museum and its educational programming.
