Abersoch Half Marathon
The Abersoch Half Marathon takes place in the seaside village of Abersoch on the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales. The event forms part of the Abersoch Triple Crown series, which also includes a triathlon and a 10K race. The half marathon covers a distance of 13.1 miles and is affiliated with the Welsh Athletics Association.
The course is predominantly set on roads and passes through the villages of Llanengan, Llangian, and Sarn Bach. It features an final kilometer run along the sands of Abersoch Beach toward the finish line. Professional traffic management is in place, and the route is marked with clear mile and direction signs. Runners have access to multiple drink stations providing water or isotonic sports drinks at the 5.7-mile, 8.7-mile, and 11.3-mile marks, as well as at the finish.
Participants are timed using bibtag technology to provide accurate results. The event includes a range of distances and categories:
- 13.1 miles (Half Marathon)
- 10 km Trail
- 2.2 km Torchlight Beach Run
- 2 km Beach Blast
A beach bar, music, race compere, and BBQ are located at the finish area on the beach. All finishers receive a zinc alloy medal with a bespoke lanyard, a technical race t-shirt, and recovery food and drink. Trophies and a prize fund are available for top performers.
