Event overview
The 361° Abersoch Half Marathon takes place in the seaside village of Abersoch on the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales. The half marathon distance is 13.1 miles and forms the final race of the Abersoch Triple Crown series. Other associated races include:
- 10K trail
- 2K Beach Blast
The event is affiliated to the Welsh Athletics Association and entrants are required to follow Welsh Athletics rules.
Course and race details
The course is predominately on roads and passes through the villages of Llanengan, Llangian and Sarn Bach. The final kilometer runs along Abersoch Beach to the finish on the sand. Drink stations with water or isotonic sports drink are located at 5.7 miles, 8.7 miles, 11.3 miles and at the finish.
ChronoChip bibtag timing is used for recorded times. Course management includes clear mile and direction signs, marshals, professional traffic management and medic support. A prize fund of £1,000 and bespoke trophies are offered.
At the finish there is music, a race compere, massages, a beach bar and a BBQ. All finishers receive a zinc alloy medal with bespoke lanyard, a technical race T-shirt, and recovery food and drink. The event also runs additional community activities such as the Torchlight Beach Run, which raised over £500 for a local charity project.
