Event Overview

The ROC Wales is a multi-sport endurance event taking place in North Wales, starting and finishing at Abersoch Beach. The course covers a total distance of 115 km and involves a combination of swimming, road cycling, mountain running, and trail running. Participants navigate from the coast to the summit of Wales’ highest mountain and back again.

Course Breakdown

The event consists of five distinct stages:

  • 1.5 km sea swim in the bay at Abersoch beach.
  • 49.5 km road bike leg from Abersoch into the Snowdon Massif.
  • 12 km mountain run, utilizing the Watkin Path to reach the summit.
  • 49.5 km return road bike leg back toward the coast.
  • 1 km trail run along the beach to the finish line.

The mountain section includes a 3,330 ft ascent to the summit over a 6 km distance, followed by a 6 km descent. The total ascent across the entire course reaches 5,825 ft.

Technical Details

The event has a maximum capacity of 400 participants. Athletes must adhere to a mountain cut-off time of 12:00 pm.
