Event Overview
The Abergele 5k & 10k takes place on the promenade at Abergele and Pensarn along the North Wales coastline. This event features a flat and fast course specifically designed to assist runners in achieving personal best times. Originally established as a temporary replacement for another local race, it has become a permanent fixture on the running calendar.
Race Options
Participants can choose from three different entry options:
- 5 km
- 10 km
- The Double (both the 5 km and 10 km on the same day)
Course and Amenities
The route is situated on the promenade and does not require road closures. Because of this, the use of headphones is restricted to bone-conducting types only, in accordance with UK Athletics rules. Drink stations are located approximately every three miles and at the finish line.
Participants have access to race headquarters on the promenade for number and chip collection. While there are public toilets and additional portable facilities near the start, no changing rooms are provided. Free parking is available in close proximity to the start and finish area.
Recognition and Prizes
All finishers in the 5 km and 10 km races receive a technical T-shirt and a bespoke medal. Those completing "The Double" receive a single T-shirt and a special medal with a ribbon indicating the completion of both distances. Awards are presented to the first, second, and third overall male and female finishers, as well as the winners of individual age categories.
