A Salute to Our Veterans Hilo Bay 5K Run/Walk
A Salute to Our Veterans Hilo Bay 5K Run/Walk is the 14th annual Hilo Bay Veterans Independence Day event presented by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and Auxiliary 3830, Pahoa, in partnership with Hawai'i County Parks and Recreation. The event takes place in Hilo, Hawaii, at 100 Banyan Drive and is held in conjunction with the Freedom 250 celebration.
The event is an inclusive 5K Run, Walk, and Roll that honors veterans and raises awareness of challenges faced by ill and injured veterans. Participation options include both in person and virtual entries. The event is open to all ages and abilities, including wheelchair users, disabled veterans, families, and community members.
Registration opens March 14 and closes May 4, with a registration fee of $40. Packet pickup and on site registration are available the day before the event on July 3 on Banyan Drive from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Registrations submitted on the day of the event may incur an extra fee and may not be timed. For virtual participants, organizers will mail shirts to out of town registrants when a mailing address is provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
