A Salute to Our Veterans Hilo Bay 5K Run, Walk and Roll
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and Auxiliary 3830, Pahoa, in partnership with Hawaiʻi County Parks & Recreation, presents a community 5K event on July 4, 2026 at Liliʻuokalani Park & Gardens in Hilo. The event honors veterans and raises awareness of challenges faced by ill and injured service members, and it is presented in conjunction with Freedom 250 and America's 250th anniversary observance.
The course includes seven interactive historical stations that illustrate periods from 1776-1800 through 2026 and beyond. The event format includes in-person running, walking, and rolling options, a virtual race option, and opportunities for donations and community support.
Packet pickup and preregistration are scheduled for the day before the event on Banyan Drive, from 11am to 6pm. Registrations made on the day of the event will incur an extra fee and may not be timed. Virtual participants who are out of town are asked to provide a mailing address so event shirts can be mailed.
