A Salute to Our Veterans Hilo Bay 5K Run/Walk
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and Auxiliary 3830, Pahoa, in partnership with Hawai'i County Parks & Recreation, presents the 14th Annual Hilo Bay Veterans Independence Day Run, Walk, and Roll held alongside the Freedom 250 celebration. The event is an inclusive 5K offering run, walk, roll, and virtual participation.
The 5K honors veterans and seeks to raise awareness of the daily challenges faced by ill and injured veterans. In-person and virtual participation options are available, allowing attendees to join from Hilo or from elsewhere.
The event is open to all ages and abilities, including wheelchair users, disabled veterans, families, and community members. Packet pickup and on-site registration are scheduled for July 3 on Banyan Drive in Hilo; the pickup setup is listed for 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Registrations submitted on the day of the event will incur an extra fee and may not be timed.
