Big Island International Marathon 2027
The event takes place in Hilo, Hawaii along Banyan Drive and the old coast of the Big Island. Races are centered on the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel; the full marathon starts and finishes at that hotel. Packet pickup and the race expo are scheduled for March 13, 2027 at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel.
Distances offered include:
- Marathon: 26.2 miles
- Half Marathon: 13.1 miles
- 10K: 6.2 miles
- 5K: 3.1 miles
- 2 mile walk: 2 miles
- Virtual Marathon: 26.2 miles
- Virtual Half Marathon: 13.1 miles
- Virtual 10K: 6.2 miles
Course descriptions are provided for each distance. The marathon is two out and back segments; the upper half of the course has an elevation gain of about 800 feet while the lower half gains about 10 feet. The half marathon is two out and back segments with the first out rising about 400 feet and the second out about 10 feet. The 10K is two out and backs, with one segment to the bayfront and the other around Ice Pond out to Onekahakaha and back. The 5K uses two out and backs including the bayfront and a loop around Ice Pond to Orchid Manor.
The 2 mile walk is not a timed event; the route goes from the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel down Banyan Drive past Reeds Bay Park, around Ice Pond to the turn around sign in front of Orchid Manor, then back the same way. Participants in the 2 mile walk receive a goodie bag with a shirt and a bib.
