Big Island International Marathon 30th running
The event marks the 30th running along the old coast of the Big Island in Hilo. Many of the live races start or finish at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel. Packet pickup and the race expo take place the day before the race on March 13, 2027, from 9am to 5pm at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel. Event insurance is available for live events at checkout.

Course and rules information is provided for each distance. The marathon and half marathon use two out-and-back segments; the marathon’s upper half has about 800 feet of elevation gain while its lower half is about 10 feet. The half marathon’s first out is about 400 feet of elevation gain and the second out about 10 feet. The 10K and 5K are both two out-and-backs with routes passing Bayfront, Ice Pond, Onekahakaha and Orchid Manor. The 2 Mile walk follows Banyan Drive past Reeds Bay Park and around Ice Pond and is not timed; participants receive a goodie bag with a shirt and bib.
Minimum ages: most live races require age 10 to run alone. The 5K and 2 Mile walk have a minimum age of 4; children 4 to 9 must run with a parent. No strollers are allowed in any race.
