A Running Start for Hope 5K
The A Running Start for Hope 5K is scheduled for August 22, 2026 at Coldstream Park on the Legacy Trail in Lexington, Kentucky. The event benefits A Running Start in partnership with The Hope Center and includes both an in-person 5K and a virtual option.

- Virtual Runner/Walker (3.1 miles, run August 15 to September 15)
The in-person 5K is chip timed and uses paved trail surfaces. Awards are given to the top three male and female overall and to the top three male and female in five-year age divisions. Commemorative race shirts are included with in-person registration while supplies last. Virtual registrants receive a commemorative T-shirt by mail. Registration fees listed are $20 for the in-person 5K and $30 for the virtual option.
Event services noted include evening packet pickup and check-in, free race photos, and a food truck on site. Organizers request six to eight volunteers for a race evening shift; volunteers receive a custom race shirt. Proceeds from the event are designated to support A Running Start by providing running shoes, race registrations, hydration supplies, and volunteer runner support for participants in the recovery running program.
