A Running Start for Hope 5K : Coldstream Park, Lexington
A Running Start for Hope 5K is an inaugural event held on April 24, 2027 in Lexington, Kentucky, in partnership with The Hope Center. The event takes place at Coldstream Park and uses the paved Legacy Trail. Proceeds will benefit A Running Start, a nonprofit recovery running program that supports individuals rebuilding their lives through substance misuse recovery.
The in-person event is a chip-timed 3.1 Miles (5K) on paved trail surfaces. Registered participants receive a custom race shirt while supplies last. Awards are given to the Top 3 male and female overall finishers and to the Top 3 male and female finishers in 5-year age divisions. Event features include free race photos, evening packet pickup and check-in, food available from a food truck, and onsite music.
A virtual runner/walker option is available with a $30 registration; the commemorative race T-shirt for virtual participants is mailed, and virtual participants may complete the distance between April 1 and May 15. Volunteer opportunities are offered for approximately six to eight people; volunteers receive a custom race shirt and there is no registration fee for volunteers.
Proceeds from the event are designated to provide running shoes, race registrations, hydration supplies, and volunteer support for participants in the A Running Start program. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
