9/11 Memorial 5K and Kids' Run - Middletown Township
The Middletown PBA presents the 5th annual 9/11 Memorial 5K and accompanying kids' run on September 12, 2026. The event marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, and serves as a fundraising and commemorative event in memory of the 37 Middletown residents who died that day. The organization is also establishing a memorial scholarship in honor of a retired deputy chief who responded to Ground Zero and later died from cancer.
The 5K is USATF-certified and managed by the Shore Athletic Club. The course begins at the Middletown Train Station, proceeds 1.55 miles out along Middletown-Lincroft Road, turns at Thompson Middle School, and returns to the station; a course map will be available. Official chip timing and live results will be provided. Two water stations will be on course, with one at the turnaround and one at the finish. Overall awards and age-group awards are offered in five-year increments, and an awards ceremony follows the kids' run.
General registration fees and tiered pricing are listed for the 5K and the kids' run. Multiple sponsorship levels are available with benefits such as lawn signs, event T-shirts, vendor tables, free race entries, logo placement on the race banner, and pre/post-race recognition; top-level sponsorship includes additional race entries to select Shore Athletic Club events. Sponsor shirts and signage are distributed at the event or during preregistration. Vendor tables are permitted for certain sponsorship levels and vendors are asked not to sell items during the community event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
