Rutgers Big Chill 5K
The event offers both an in-person and a virtual 5K option. The in-person race is based at the College Avenue Gym, 130 College Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ, and is limited to 3,250 participants. In-person entry includes a registration fee of $27 plus a required toy donation valued at $10 or more; toys must be brought to runner check-in on the designated Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. Participants receive the long-sleeved Big Chill shirt at runner check-in.
Facilities for the in-person event include indoor restrooms and outdoor portapotties at the corner of College Avenue and Senior Street. Food and water are available to participants after completing the 5K. Race results are posted live on the Compuscore website and are available after the race.
The virtual option lets participants complete a 5K at a location of their choice during the event window in December; virtual registration carries a fee of $10. Virtual participants can obtain a printable digital bib, submit their finish time online, upload photos, and download a finisher certificate. Race shirts for virtual entrants are available for purchase through the official Big Chill store, which also sells additional apparel and accessories.
The event supports local campus and community needs; past fundraising contributed to the No Hungry Knights Fund and toy collections distributed to families in the New Brunswick area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
