Event Overview
The 8-Hours of Berm is an 8-hour timed running event held on August 15, 2026, at the Ross Prairie Trailhead in Dunnellon, Florida. It takes place in Ross Prairie conservation land, which features longleaf pine forests, oak hammocks, and dry prairies. The course incorporates part of the Skunk Ape 100 Mile Endurance Run route.
The Course
The event is named for its use of Florida's fire lines, or "berms," which are cleared paths through flatwoods or scrubland. The loop is 6.5 miles long with +135 feet of elevation gain. The terrain is described as challenging, consisting of deep sand, forest roads, exposed stretches, and natural trails with little to no tree canopy.
Logistics
The start time is 8:30 AM. Bib pick-up opens at 6 AM on race day. The Ross Prairie Trailhead site has a bathhouse. Participants are able to set up tents for self-crewing. The Ross Prairie Campground, a full-service campground with 14 sites, electrical hookups, a dump station, and a bathhouse, is nearby for those interested in camping.
