12th Annual Save A Heart Hybrid 5K
The Florida Department of Health in Citrus County (DOH-Citrus) hosts the 12th Annual Save A Heart Hybrid 5K as a no cost event to highlight World Heart Day and encourage physical activity. The event offers both an in person 5K at Whispering Pines Park, 1700 Forest Drive, Inverness, FL, and a virtual option that can be completed at any location.
Registration opens August 3, 2026 and closes September 13, 2026. The first 200 registered participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt and a swag bag while supplies last. Swag bag pickup will be at the IFAS building next to the DOH-Citrus Lecanto building at 3650 West Sovereign Path, Lecanto, FL 34461 under the Portico on September 14, September 15, and September 17, 2026.
The in person event will meet at the Pavilion in Whispering Pines Park. The course route at Whispering Pines Park is slightly different this year due to alterations; a map is forthcoming.
Virtual participants may upload distances, times, and activities on the event website between September 13 and September 19, 2026. Individuals may take part at their own pace or join as teams and may log various activities such as walking, running, cycling, swimming, paddle or rowing, yoga, kickboxing, and tai chi.
