12th Annual Save A Heart Hybrid 5K
The Florida Department of Health in Citrus County (DOH-Citrus) presents a no-cost hybrid event centered on a 5K distance with both in-person and virtual participation options. The event is scheduled within the September 13 to September 19 date range and is held to spotlight World Heart Day and promote physical activity, healthy weight, and lifestyle choices that help prevent heart disease and stroke.
Registration opens August 3 and closes September 13. The first 200 registrants receive a commemorative T-shirt and a swag bag while supplies last. In-person participants will meet at the Pavilion in Whispering Pines Park, 1700 Forest Drive, Inverness, FL. Virtual participants can upload distance, times, and activities on the event website between September 13 and September 19; uploads can reflect activity done at any location or time within that window.
Virtual entries may record a variety of activities such as walking, running, cycling, swimming, paddle or rowing, yoga, kickboxing, and tai-chi. Swag bag pickup is available at the IFAS building next to the DOH-Citrus Lecanto building, 3650 West Sovereign Path, Lecanto, FL 34461 under the Portico, on the listed pickup dates and times.
