Save A Heart Hybrid 5K
The Florida Department of Health in Citrus County is hosting an annual hybrid Save A Heart 5K that runs from September 13 to September 19, 2026. The event is free to enter; registration opens August 3 and closes September 13. The first 200 registrants will receive a commemorative T shirt and a swag bag while supplies last.
There are two participation options. The in person option is a 5K held on September 19 with participants meeting at the Pavilion in Whispering Pines Park, 1700 Forest Drive, Inverness, FL. The virtual option is also a 5K and allows participants to record and upload distance, times and activities on the event website between September 13 and September 19. Virtual participants may take part at their own pace, time and location, either individually or within teams, and may track activity through walking, running, cycling, swimming, paddle or rowing, yoga, kickboxing, tai chi and other activities. Virtual participants will be emailed directions on how to upload results.
Swag bag pickup is at the IFAS building next to the DOH Citrus Lecanto building at 3650 West Sovereign Path, Lecanto, FL 34461 under the portico. Pickup dates and times are Monday September 14 2 00 to 4 00 p m, Tuesday September 15 9 00 to 11 00 a m, and Thursday September 17 4 30 to 6 30 p m.
