12th Annual Save A Heart Hybrid 5K
The Florida Department of Health in Citrus County (DOH-Citrus) presents a no-cost hybrid 5K event that includes both an in person gathering and a virtual option. The in person component meets at the Pavilion in Whispering Pines Park, 1700 Forest Drive, Inverness, FL. The event distance is 5K.
The virtual option allows individuals or teams to complete and record distance and times from any location using a variety of activities. Accepted activities include walking, running, cycling, swimming, paddle or rowing, yoga, kickboxing, and tai chi. Virtual participants will be emailed directions on how to upload results to the organizers.
The event highlights World Heart Day and aims to raise awareness of the role of physical activity, healthy weight, and lifestyle choices in preventing heart disease and stroke. Registration is free. The first 200 individuals to register will receive a commemorative T-shirt and a swag bag; more generally, registered participants may receive a commemorative 5K T-shirt and other swag while supplies last.
Swag bag pick up is available at the IFAS building next to the DOH-Citrus Lecanto building at 3650 West Sovereign Path, Lecanto, FL 34461 under the portico. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
