Event Overview
The event is a community 5K named "Run, Walk, & Roll." It is the third annual edition organized by A Step Ahead in Pierce County (ASAPC). The purpose is to raise awareness for Early Support Services for infants and toddlers.
Location and Course
The event takes place at Bradley Lake Park in Puyallup, Washington. The course is a paved trail around the lake, described as smooth and suitable for families. The trail surface is paved asphalt, typically at least 8 feet wide, with a gentle grade (3% or less). The route is considered navigable for wheelchairs, mobility equipment, and strollers. There are benches and picnic tables along the route.
Participation and Activities
The event includes several participation categories:
- 5K "Run, Walk, Roll": General registration priced at $15.
- Current ASAPC Families: Free registration.
- ASAPC Staff: Free registration.
- Bring an Item for Resource Closet: A free registration option that involves a donation for the resource closet.
- T-Shirt Purchase: An option to buy a performance t-shirt for $20, which does not include race registration.
Children 12 and under can participate for free. Participants are welcome to run, walk, or roll (use a wheelchair). Strollers, well-behaved pets, and bikes/scooters (for children under 10 only) are permitted on the course.
Event Day Details
On the day of the event, participant check-in and bib collection begins. A pre-race welcome and stretch session is scheduled. After the 5K begins, other activities are available, including a sensory area, kids' activities, vendors, and food trucks. Snacks and water are provided along the race path and at refueling stations. Public restrooms are available on site.
Supporting the Cause
All proceeds from the event go directly to cover event costs, with any extra funds supporting the work of ASAPC.
