Registration closes on Fri, Jun 5 at 11:59 PM PT. Registration includes three days (two nights) of camping at Camp Sheppard. A race t-shirt is included with registration; sign-up before May 1 is recommended to ensure shirt size availability.
Format, trails, scoring and logistics
The event is self-supported from a central base camp. Six out-and-back trails are used, ranging from about 3 miles to about 18.9 miles. Trails are marked with colored ribbons and laminated signs where needed. At the furthest point of each trail there is a rubber stamp; runners must stamp their quest log and check in and out at HQ for each run. Shortcuts are not allowed and cheating results in a DNF.
Scoring is based on completing main quests (the six marked routes) and optional side quests placed on trails or at camp. Side quests have varied examples such as midnight yoga, puzzles, and small tasks; point values vary. Water sources are available on trails; a water purification method is required. Required gear includes a headlamp, hydration pack or bottles, water filtration device, food for 24 hours, and an ink pad. Every participant receives a custom wood round medal; additional awards include top finishers, team awards, a 100-mile buckle, a SISU Spirit Award, and a SISU Miles award. Refund and transfer policies are stated for cancellations and postponements. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
