SISU 24 Ultra PNW : Camp Sheppard, Enumclaw, WA
SISU 24 PNW is a self-supported trail event held at Camp Sheppard near Mount Rainier National Park and Crystal Mountain ski area. The event offers multiple race formats: a 24-hour individual, a 24-hour team (teams of three), and an ultimate 100-mile option with a 32-hour cutoff. Registration includes three days (two nights) of camping at the Boy Scout camp with access to restrooms, showers, sinks, and BBQ stands.
The course uses six marked out-and-back trails that range from about 3 miles up to 18.9 miles. Participants choose routes during the event, check in at base camp before each outing, reach the trail checkpoint to stamp their quest log, and check back in at HQ for verification and safety tracking. Rubber stamps mark the furthest point on each trail and an ink pad is required for proof of completion.
Scoring is based on main quests (completing marked trails) and optional side quests on or off trail that award additional points; point values can change based on how many participants complete a route. Some rules: no shortcuts once on a route and any cheating results in a DNF. The event recommends carrying a headlamp, water filtration, food for 24 hours, and basic camping and cold-weather gear.
Awards include a custom wood round medal for all finishers, top placings for men, women, and teams, a custom buckle for the 100-mile finishers, a SISU Spirit Award voted by racers, and a SISU Miles award for most distance. A non-binary registration option is offered; separate non-binary awards require a minimum number of entrants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
