SISU 24 PNW
SISU 24 PNW is a self-supported trail running event held at Camp Sheppard in the Cascade Mountains near Mount Rainier National Park and Crystal Mountain. The format centers on multiple out-and-back routes, stamping and checking in at base camp for safety and scoring. Trails range from about 3 miles to 18.9 miles and there are six marked routes with points assigned based on distance and difficulty. Earlier completions of a route can yield higher points.
Participants may pursue main quests by completing marked routes and collecting stamps at trail endpoints. Optional side quests add points and variety; past tasks have included midnight yoga, a service project, connect the dots, carrying an egg without breaking it, sudoku, trivia, and knot tying. Camp registration includes three days and two nights of camping with centrally located restrooms and showers, flushing toilets, BBQ stands, and sinks. The site is about 40 minutes from the nearest city.
All entrants receive a custom wood round medal with optional engraving. Awards recognize the top three male and female finishers and the top three teams. A custom buckle is planned for the 100 mile finisher and there are SISU Spirit and SISU Miles recognitions. Participants can select a non binary category during registration; separate non binary awards require a minimum of five non binary entrants.
Required gear includes a headlamp, hydration pack or bottles, a water filtration device, 24 hours of food, and an ink pad. Cheating results in a DNF and runners must check in and out before and after each run. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
