Maple Valley Bear Run & Walk 5K
The Maple Valley Bear Run & Walk is a community 5K held at Lake Wilderness Park on June 27, 2026. The course starts and finishes inside the park and follows a moderately hilly route around scenic Lake Wilderness with wooded lakeside trails. A race course map is provided.
Registration is open with a listed adult fee of $35. Kids 12 and under are free when registered online by May 31; a small handling fee applies for all registrations. Tech shirts are guaranteed for those who register by May 31. Participants aged 8 and younger must register with and be accompanied by an adult or a participant aged 13 or older.
Pre-race packet pick up is offered at Road Runner Sports in Kent, and day of packet pick up and registration are available using a personal mobile device; no on-site payments are accepted. Parking is available at Lake Wilderness Park; carpooling is encouraged.
Chip timing is provided by Tortoise and Hare Timing using disposable chips attached to the back of bib numbers. Age group awards are given for male and female divisions and are based on chip time; recipients must be present to receive awards. First place in each age division wins a Bear Run Bear, and second and third places receive Bear Run Bells. Special awards are given to the top three overall men and women based on gun time.
Water and snacks are provided after the race. Dogs are not allowed on the course except service dogs. Proceeds support Tahoma High School distance running programs through the Tahoma Cross Country Running Club. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
