5K on the Runway : Tampa International Airport
This event is a chip-timed 5K held on runway 10/28 at Tampa International Airport. The race is limited to the first 2,000 registrants and carries a race fee of $60. Registration opens at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on January 15, 2026; a virtual 5K option is also available.
Packet pickup (bib and shirt) is scheduled at SkyCenter One, 5411 SkyCenter Drive; packet pickup requires a Runsignup registration confirmation or a driver’s license and a signed waiver. Gear Check will store small items only. Parking for the event is provided at Hillsborough Community College – Dale Mabry Campus, 4001 W. Tampa Bay Blvd; the event site is not accessible from airport parking facilities.
Wheelchair participants may register by selecting the wheelchair option; the runway grooves can make manual wheelchair use challenging. Race results use timing mats at the start and finish; overall awards are based on gun time and age group awards are based on chip time. Awards include airplane trophies for overall top finishers, wheelchair winners, and youth division placings, plus age-group recognitions and complimentary race entries for certain age-group winners in the following year.
The event includes raffle ticket sales with proceeds benefiting United Way Suncoast, volunteer roles (youth volunteers must be at least 14), and sponsorship opportunities. Registration is non-transferable and non-refundable. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
