5K for Kappie : Athens, GA
The Delta Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma hosts the 5th Annual 5K for Kappie on April 19, 2026, at the Classic Center Pavilion in Athens, GA. The in-person event starts and finishes on Foundry Street beside the Pavilion and follows an out and back route along the Firefly Trail to the trail head on East Broad Street.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to CURE Childhood Cancer to support targeted research and families affected by childhood cancer. The race honors a late sorority sister who died on June 2, 2020 after a 13 month battle with osteosarcoma.
The program includes an in-person 5K, a virtual 5K option where participants run 3.1 miles anywhere and submit a finish time by 12 noon on April 19, and a Phantom Runner option for supporters who want event items without running. Virtual and Phantom participants may pick up shirts at the Kappa House, 440 Milledge Ave, Athens, GA, or pay a $10 mailing fee at registration.
T-shirts and other freebies will be available. Awards will be given to Overall Male and Female and to Masters Male and Female. All participants receive finisher medals.
Registration fees vary by date, with tiers beginning at $20 and increasing to $35 for late registrations. Early packet pickup is scheduled the Friday before the race at the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority house. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
