Event Overview
The 5th Annual 5K for Kappie is hosted by the Delta Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma. It is held in honor of a late sorority sister. All proceeds from the event go to CURE Childhood Cancer, a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding childhood cancer research and supporting affected families.
Events
Participants can choose from three events:
- 5K for Kappie – An in-person 5K run/walk.
- 5K for Kappie Virtual – A virtual option where participants run 3.1 miles on their own.
- Phantom Runner – A non-running registration option for supporters.
Course Details
The in-person course is an out-and-back route. It starts and finishes on Foundry Street beside the Classic Center Pavilion and proceeds onto the Firefly Trail.
Registration and Fees
Registration fees increase over time. The standard fee is $25 until March 20, 2026, after which it increases to $35. Early registration from January 1-20, 2026, is $20. Each fee includes a sign-up charge.
Packet Pickup
Packet pickup is available in advance at the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority House on S. Milledge Ave or on race day at the Classic Center Pavilion on Foundry Street.
Awards and Amenities
Awards are given to the overall male and female finishers and to the male and female masters finishers. All participants receive a finisher medal. The event includes T-shirts and other giveaways.
Additional Information
The event is part of the Black Bag Race Series. Timing and finish line management are provided by Classic Race Services. The policy for inclement weather states the race will proceed, with potential delays, and no refunds are issued. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
