Red S.H.O.E 5K Walk/Run
The Red S.H.O.E. (Self-Care, Healthy Options & Exercise) 5K Walk/Run is a community event held in Athens, Georgia. Sponsored by the Athens Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, the event promotes physical and mental wellness through regular activity and healthy lifestyle choices. Proceeds from the race support community service initiatives and scholarships for high school seniors.
The event features two participation options:
- Red S.H.O.E 5K
- Virtual Red S.H.O.E 5K
The physical course is an out and back route located in Dudley Park. Participants start and finish near the sunflowers within the park. For those opting for the virtual event, the 5 km distance can be completed at any location, with results submitted online.
Awards are presented to the overall male and female winners, as well as masters categories. Recognition is also given to the top three finishers in various age groups, ranging from 10 and under to 80 and over. Participants who register by the specified deadline in March are eligible to receive a t-shirt, while a registration discount is available for those who choose not to receive one.
