Whistler Blackcomb - 5 Peaks Trail Running (British Columbia)
This event takes place atop Blackcomb Mountain and is part of the BC 5 Peaks Trail Running Series. It is scheduled for September 5 and begins with a gondola ride up Whistler Mountain and a crossing to Blackcomb via the Peak to Peak Gondola.
The on-mountain course crosses meadows with flowers, passes alpine lakes, and goes over boulder fields, offering extended panoramic views. Available distances include:
- Kid's Run 1 km
- Kid's Run 3 km
- Sport Run or Hike 7 km
- Enduro Run or Hike 11 km
- Grit Run 12.5 km
All participants and spectators must take the gondola to reach the start. Registration prices do not include gondola tickets, optional swag, or finisher medals; these items can be pre-purchased at a discounted rate through Race Roster or bought on site while supplies last.
A non-competitive hiking division is led by pace leaders, starts ahead of the competitive field, does not allow running, and has estimated finish times of about 2 hours for the Sport course and 3 hours for the Enduro. Hikers are included in prize draws but do not receive podium placements.
Safety and logistics notes: no dogs, no headphones, no strollers or child carriers, and no trekking poles except in hiking categories. The event is cup-free; water and an on-course electrolyte beverage are available at the start, finish, and at one or more aid stations. Awards and medals are given to top finishers by gender and age category and must be picked up at the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
