About the race
Whistler Blackcomb is the fourth race in the BC 5 Peaks Trail Running Series held on Blackcomb Mountain. The event uses gondola access, including a gondola ride up Whistler Mountain and a crossing on the Peak to Peak Gondola to reach Blackcomb. Racing and hiking routes traverse alpine meadows, pass alpine lakes, and go over boulder fields with panoramic mountain views. The event is organized as a cup free race; water and electrolyte drink are provided at the start, finish, and at one or more on-course aid stations.
Participants planning to be out for longer than an hour are asked to carry a receptacle for liquids and calories. The on-course electrolyte beverage is Blonyx Hydra+. The event offers multiple distances and categories, with age group and overall awards presented to top finishers in each timed category. Optional swag and finisher medals can be pre-purchased or bought on site while supplies last.
Individual registration fees do not include swag, finisher medals, or gondola lift tickets; gondola tickets for racers and spectators are available through Race Roster or Whistler Blackcomb. A non-competitive hiking division is available with designated pace leaders and no podium; hiking participants are included in prize draws. The race enforces safety rules on course: no dogs, no headphones, no strollers or baby carriers, and no poles except in hiking divisions.
