24HR "The Grind"
The inaugural Machete Trail Madness 24HR race takes place on January 29, 2027 in Perris, California, at the Lake Perris area on 17801 Lake Perris Dr. The event offers both individual 24 hour and team 24 hour formats and is organized by Machete Trail Madness.
Participants run repeated laps of the Molcajete 1.0 loop, described as roughly 4 miles+ per lap with notable climbing. Organizers are also considering a potential new course with similar total climb and a longer loop distance pending finalization.
Teams consist of four members in any combination of genders. Each team assigns runners numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4 and cycles through that order for each lap; the team captain registers all members together. Awards are planned for the top three individual men, top three individual women, and the top three teams.
Registration notes on the event page state that registration must be completed by December 24, 2026 to guarantee a medal or buckle and participant shirt, and that general registration closes on January 2, 2027. Registration includes supplied aid stations, race swag, and family friendly camping at no extra cost.
