24HR "The Grind" : Perris, CA
24HR "The Grind" is the inaugural Machete Trail Madness 24-hour race held at 17801 Lake Perris Drive in Perris, California on January 29, 2027. The event features individual and team 24-hour formats and is based on a repeated loop known as the Molcajete 1.0.
Participants run a Molcajete 1.0 loop of approximately 4 miles+ as many times as they choose within the 24-hour period. The loop includes repeated climbs that racers will encounter fresh, tired, and during hours of darkness. The event description frames the course as a sustained vertical challenge where each lap requires the same climb.
Teams consist of four members in any combination of men and women. Each team member is assigned a number from 1 to 4 and must run laps in that exact rotation without skipping or repeating out of order. A team captain registers all team members under one registration.
Awards are given to the top three individual men and the top three individual women, and to the top three teams. The start, transition area, and group campground are located at Group Picnic C; attendees are instructed to enter from the Morene Valley entrance rather than via Ramona Express Way. Registration closes January 2 at 11:59 PM PT, and registering by December 24, 2026 ensures receipt of event medal or buckle and a participant shirt.
