24 Hours of Palmer Lake
24 Hours of Palmer Lake is a 24 hour endurance run held in Palmer Lake, Colorado, on the Palmer Divide at an elevation of 7,240 feet. The course is a 0.82 mile loop set among nearby mountains. The event is described as low fanfare and community driven, aimed at participants who want to test mental and physical limits while running alongside others with similar goals.
Participants may compete to cover the greatest distance in the 24 hour period, pursue a personal distance record, or use the event to test pacing and nutrition strategies. Awards are given to the top three overall finishers by distance covered in the 24 hour period.
There is a specific recognition for the first 10 runners who complete 100 miles or more within 24 hours; those runners are guaranteed a buckle onsite. Additional runners who reach 100 miles receive their buckle a couple of weeks after the event.
A portion of each registration is directed to local parks. Five dollars from every registration is donated to the Palmer Lake Parks Committee to support area park improvements. The event does not offer refunds, but may provide a credit toward the next year with at least a couple of weeks notice. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
