Colorado Run for the Fallen : Palmer Lake, Colorado
The Colorado Run for the Fallen is an annual commemorative event held in Colorado to honor service members and first responders who died in service. The 2026 edition is the eighth annual observance and takes place at the Palmer Lake Regional Recreation Area on September 13, 2026. The event recognizes more than 480 Colorado military service members who died as a result of service during the Global War on Terror. It also honors fallen EMS personnel from police and fire departments and a citizen hero.
Each mile is dedicated to an individual, with names, ranks, and dates of loss called aloud from an Honor Station Tribute Area throughout the day. The event follows an organized tribute model established by Honor and Remember, Inc., and brings together runners, volunteers, military families, and supporting organizations.
Available participant options include:
- 1 Mile Hero Walk
- 5K Run or Ruck
- Core runners covering multiple miles
Participants may register as individuals or teams, run, walk, or ruck in memory of a particular hero, or volunteer to support the event. The public may attend to pay respects. Ceremonial elements include an opening ceremony, a Gold Star lunch and loop, and a closing ceremony featuring the tolling of an honor bell.
