24+ Hours of Brake the Habit - May 30 to 31, 2026
Brake the Habit takes place in Pocahontas County, West Virginia, with the event hub at Stillwell Park in Marlinton and an HQ location for pre- and post-race activity to be announced. The weekend event includes free on-site camping for registered teams.
The course covers roughly 95 to 120 miles and is planned as a multi-discipline adventure race over 24 to 30 hours; initial scouting indicates the timing may lean toward 30 hours. Teams of two to four racers compete in single-gender and mixed-gender divisions; there is no solo division. Checkpoints include mandatory team areas and a mix of optional checkpoints, with a minimum portion of the course required. Scoring rewards the team with the most points in the least amount of time, making route choice and strategy important.
Race legs will include trekking, mountain biking, packrafting and navigation. Packrafting features are limited to a single specific leg; teams may need to carry rafts and paddle gear on foot for that section, with expected carry distance ranging from 3 to 6 miles. Teams will not be required to bike with their packrafts.
This event is a USARA regional qualifier and part of the ARWS North American circuit. Registration tiers vary by date, registration closes May 20, and race day registration is not available. A registration handling fee is added by the registration company. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
