BEAT THE BRIDGE 5K CHALLENGE Scholarship Run/Walk/Virtual : 1911 Initiative

The event is a community-funded scholarship effort. Proceeds and fundraising support college scholarships and internships. Organizers describe the route’s notable feature as the Matteson bridge near mile 3, which was a prominent point in prior editions.
Logistics listed by organizers include early packet pickup on June 16 through June 18 at the Matteson Community Center, Eagles Nest room, and race-day packet pickup in the morning at the site. Race registrations may include a runners’ shirt and a finisher medal; registering by May 15, 2027 increases the likelihood of receiving a shirt and medal. Some finisher medals are limited to the first 200 registrants.
The event is chip-timed and a clock at the finish line will display times. Awards are given to the top three male and top three female finishers, plus top finishers in specified age groups (7 and under; 8-10; 11-14; 15-17; 18-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75-79; 80+). Food vendors and local vendor booths are listed, and an after-race celebration is planned on the village soccer field with a house music event.
