The Mince Pie 10 Mile
The Mince Pie 10 Mile is an annual running event organised by the Seaford Striders and their members, held in December around Peacehaven. The race starts from Peacehaven Leisure Centre, Greenwich Way, Peacehaven BN10 8BB, and registration takes place inside the leisure centre.
The course is 10 miles, mostly off road. Approximately six miles follow farm tracks and bridleways, with the remaining four miles on reasonably quiet roads. The route is undulating with a testing hill at around six miles, and can be fairly muddy given the time of year. Large directional arrows, cones, and marshals will mark and staff the route, and a sweep marshal follows the final runner. Large scale course maps are available online and at Race HQ.
Facilities at Race HQ include toilets, ladies-only portaloo units at the rear, and an unmanned baggage drop; participants are advised not to leave valuables in the baggage area. Limited parking is available at the leisure centre and on nearby roads and industrial estate locations; marshals will direct vehicles. A pre-race warm up will be provided by a fitness instructor from Gingerfit. The event encourages reusable cups or camel packs, recycling at Race HQ, low-litter practices on course, and offers a Kit Swap Shop and post-race massage. All finishers receive a bespoke medal, a mince pie, and a goody bag. Prizes and team awards are given to top finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
