Thetford Festival of Running
Thetford Festival of Running is a multi-distance trail event held at High Lodge, Thetford Forest, Brandon, IP27 0AF. The event returns for its second year and offers a range of distances on a forest loop.
Distances on offer include:
- 5k
- 10k
- Half Marathon
- Full Marathon
- Ultra Marathon
The course uses an approximately 5.3 km loop within Thetford Forest, almost entirely off-road (about 99% trail), with about 12 m of climb per lap and elevation ranging roughly between 46 m and 58 m. The one-lap forest route serves as the 5k; longer distances are formed by repeating the lap, and all distances start together. Event cut-offs of four or six hours apply depending on start arrangements.
Facilities and event arrangements are based adjacent to Oak Lodge, which is used for registration and for provision of teas, coffee and cake on completion. A water aid station is positioned at the lap point. Parking is available at a discounted rate of £5 for participants presenting a QR code. Finishers receive a bespoke event medal or, where available, a lucky dip medal option.
The event is cupless, so participants should bring cups or bottles for refreshment refilling. Twenty percent of the entry fee contributes to forest upkeep and woodland care. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
