Ickworth Sunset Chase : event details

Ickworth Sunset Chase is a trail running event held at Ickworth Park, a National Trust country estate near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk (The Rotunda, Horringer, IP29 5QE). The event on 4 September 2026 offers two race distances:

10k

The event is chip timed. All finishers receive a medal; the top three male and female finishers receive trophies. First aid cover is provided. The entry fee is £27 (£25 for attached club members); an additional £2 fee applies to non attached club runners under UK Athletics rules. Minimum ages are 12 for the 5k and 16 for the 10k. Parking is free; vehicles are left at the owner's risk.

Course, logistics and conditions

The route is multi terrain and includes a new limestone path, footpaths, woodland and meadows. The event is cupless: fresh drinking water will be available for bottle refills but no cups are provided. Competitors are asked to carry a torch for safety. Registration and race headquarters are located close to the start area, which is marked by an inflatable gantry. Results are recorded by a third party and final times are posted by the organisers; competitors are advised to use their own watches if an accurate personal time is required. The event has Race Permit 6990. Entrants must be medically fit to participate and wear appropriate grippy footwear; organisers and landowners accept no liability for injuries.
