Ickworth Sunset Chase
The Ickworth Sunset Chase is a multi-terrain running event held at Ickworth Park, a National Trust country estate in Suffolk. The course takes participants through landscaped parkland, meadows, forest, and woodland. The route utilizes a limestone path along with stretches of footpaths, providing a surface suitable for different types of running footwear.
The event offers two main race distances:
- 5 km
- 10 km
Participants in the 10 km event must be 16 years or older on race day, while the 5 km event is open to those aged 12 years and over. The 10 km race is chip-timed, and all participants who complete the course receive a finisher medal. Trophies are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each category.
This is a cupless event aimed at reducing single-use waste. Runners should bring their own bottles, which can be refilled with fresh drinking water provided at the site. For safety reasons, it is mandatory for all participants to carry a torch.
Registration takes place at the race headquarters located near the start line. Race numbers and timing chips are collected on-site on the day of the event rather than being sent by post. Free parking is available approximately 200 yards from the venue, with access via the main entrance in Horringer Village on the A143.
