Lake District Triple Challenge

The Lake District Triple Challenge is a multi-activity event located in the Lake District National Park. This one-day challenge combines mountain biking, trekking, and kayaking in a team-based environment. Participants complete the activities in a group led by qualified mountain leaders, cycling instructors, and kayak guides.

The event consists of three distinct sections:

  • Mountain Biking: A 12 km circuit starting from Coniston. The route involves a steep ascent into Grizedale Forest followed by off-road trails and a descent back to the village.
  • Trekking: An 11 km hike to the summit of the Old Man of Coniston. The trek reaches an elevation of 803 m and typically takes between three to four hours.
  • Kayaking: A 1.5 km circular loop on Coniston Water using stable, two-person, sit-on-top kayaks.

All necessary equipment for the biking and kayaking portions is provided, including mountain bikes, helmets, kayaks, and life jackets. Participants have the option to bring their own mountain bike and helmet if they prefer. The event follows a "leader-led" format without route marking, ensuring the group stays together for safety.

A packed lunch and snacks are provided during the day. The challenge starts with a registration and safety briefing at 7:30 am in Coniston village and concludes at approximately 6:00 pm. While the event is focused on fundraising for various charities, it is open to individuals and corporate groups looking for a structured outdoor adventure.
