Mingus Madness 50k
Mingus Madness is a grassroots, unofficial, non-permitted, minimally supported trail event in Prescott Valley, AZ. The main distance is 50K. The course runs on rugged, remote trails atop and around the Woodchute side of Mingus Mountain.
Runners should expect about 33 miles of travel and roughly 6,000' of vertical gain. Much of the route is steep and technical, and participants will likely do more hiking than running. The course layout follows the same route used in previous years.
Support on course is limited. The event plans three aid stations similar to prior years and some post-race food; participants are advised to bring their own chairs or blankets because conditions can be chilly. A GPX file is required for race day.
There is a strict cutoff before the descent down the 102 into the second aid station, at roughly mile 14. Runners who do not meet that cutoff will be asked to take the 102 trail back to the start/finish for an 18 mile option. There is no overall cutoff for the entire event, but a time cutoff applies at that descent. Registration is capped at 30 runners and closes on November 6, 2026.
