Groom Creek Classic
The Groom Creek Classic is a running event held in Groom Creek near Prescott, Arizona, at 1110 E. Friendly Pines Road. The course runs through a Ponderosa Pine forest about five miles south of Prescott. Distances offered include:
- 1/2 Marathon
- 10k Run
- 5k Run
- Fun Run
The 5k and fun run courses remain on smooth pavement with rolling hills. The 10k and half marathon both begin and end on pavement and also follow smooth, wide dirt forest roads through the trees.
Entry is limited by event: 100 spots for the half marathon, 60 spots for the 10k, and 100 spots for the 5k. The race operates a cupless format on the course; paper and plastic cups are not provided at on-course water stations. All runners receive a reusable, foldable hydration bottle at registration and may use a hydration pack. Cups will be available at start and finish stations, and there are water stations along the route where bottles and packs can be refilled.
Runners receive an event T shirt and a foldable hydration bottle. A finisher medal is awarded to all half marathon finishers, and age group medals are given to the top three in each age group for the half marathon, 10k, and 5k.
