23rd Annual Groom Creek Classic
The Groom Creek Classic is an annual running event located in the Ponderosa Pine forest of Groom Creek, situated five miles south of Prescott, Arizona. The event features multiple distance options through varying terrain and natural surroundings.
The available distances for this event include:
- 1/2 Marathon
- 10k Run
- 5k Run
- Fun Run
Participants in the 5k and Fun Run follow courses on smooth pavement with rolling hills. Those participating in the 10k and 1/2 Marathon begin and end on pavement but spend a portion of the race on wide dirt forest roads. Registration is limited to 100 spots for the half marathon, 60 spots for the 10k, and 100 spots for the 5k.
This is a cupless event aimed at reducing waste in the forest. No paper or plastic cups are provided at water stations along the course, though cups are available at the start and finish lines. Every participant receives a reusable, foldable hydration bottle at registration to use at the mid-course refilling stations.
All participants receive an event T-shirt and a hydration bottle. Finishers of the 1/2 Marathon earn a finisher medal. Additionally, medals are awarded to the top three finishers in each age group for the 1/2 Marathon, 10k, and 5k distances. A free bag check service is provided for all runners.
