Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) Triple Challenge
The Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) Triple Challenge is a multi-activity event located within Snowdonia National Park. Participants complete a 36 km route that combines three different disciplines in a single day. The event is designed as a team-based challenge where participants are led by experienced instructors rather than competing against a clock.
The itinerary consists of the following sections:
- Cycling: An approximately 17 km (10.5 miles) ride starting in Llanberis, traveling along the shore of Llyn Padarn and passing through the local slate quarries toward Llyn Cwellyn.
- Trekking: A 15 km (9 miles) round-trip hike to the summit of Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa). The ascent uses the Snowdon Ranger path and the Llanberis Path to reach the peak at 1,085 m.
- Kayaking: A 4 km (2.5 miles) circuit on Llyn Padarn to conclude the challenge.
The event follows a "leader-led" format, meaning routes are not marked with signs and the group stays together under the guidance of qualified staff. Participants are responsible for bringing their own roadworthy bicycle and helmet, though rental options are available with prior notice. All kayaking equipment, including life vests, is provided. A packed lunch and drinking water are included during the activity day. The terrain is varied and includes steep mountain paths and quiet country roads.
