Kaiwi Coast Run & Walk
The Kaiwi Coast Run & Walk is a community oriented event held on Sunday, November 22, 2026, along the Kaiwi Coast scenic highway on the island of Oahu. The course is approximately 4 miles, begins at Awāwāmalu (Sandy Beach Park) and finishes at the Hui Nalu Canoe Club on the shores of Maunalua Bay. The event opens with the sunrise over the Kaiwi Channel, a Hawaiian oli and the blowing of the pū.
The route follows the Kaiwi coastline, passes Hālona and Hanauma Bay, and crosses the pedestrian overpass at Kalanianaole Highway and Lunalilo Home Road. Participants must use the pedestrian overpass or they will be disqualified. The event is the only pedestrian race sanctioned for this area and is limited to 3,000 entrants.
Packet pickup locations include the Hui Nalu Canoe Club Hālau at Maunalua Bay, Kahala Mall, Windward Mall, Runners HI Pearl Kai Shopping Center, and Awāwāmalu Beach Park on race day if the event has not sold out. A free race shuttle runs between Hawaii Kai Park N Ride and the start area, and a post race bus returns to Awāwāmalu from the finish; shuttle rules state no dogs on board and that strollers are accommodated.
Entry options and fees include Early Bird, Regular, Late, and In Person rates; discounts apply for keiki 12 and under, seniors 65 and older, and active duty military and first responders. Participants receive a commemorative glass fishing float, an event T shirt with art by Shelly Choy, and a goodie bag while supplies last.
