Zion Half Marathon
The Zion Half Marathon is a 13.1 mile road race through the high desert around Zion National Park on February 27, 2027. The course begins on Kolob Terrace Road in Virgin, Utah, follows a partially closed section of SR 9 and a paved trail or bike path that runs parallel to the highway, and finishes near Cable Mountain Lodge just outside Springdale. The route follows the curves of the Virgin River and gradually reveals sandstone canyon walls and slickrock as runners move toward Springdale. There are only two major turns on course, one near the start and one just after mile 13.
The course is paved and predominantly uphill overall, with an approximate elevation gain of 722 feet and a four hour time cutoff. The event operates a cup free aid station system: five aid stations are spaced about every two miles beginning near mile 3, with the first aid station serving as the official clothing drop and a medic stationed near the aid station by mile 7. Race day logistics include an expo and bib pickup at Springdale Town Park the day before the race, bib pickup options on race morning, or mailed bibs for a $30 fee. There is no start line parking; shuttles run from multiple pickup locations in Springdale and from La Verkin with designated parking at those La Verkin stops.
Chip timing determines overall and masters awards, and place medals plus finisher medals are provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
