Zion Half Marathon
The Zion Half Marathon is a 13.1 mile road race held on February 27, 2027. The course begins on Kolob Terrace Road in Virgin, Utah, and follows a partially closed section of SR-9, a paved trail and bike path that runs parallel to the highway into Springdale. The route has two major turns and finishes at the entrance to Cable Mountain Lodge. The course is described as a gradual uphill with approximately 722 feet of elevation gain and a four hour cutoff.
Aid and logistics are structured for a remote park setting. The event operates cup free; aid stations provide water and electrolyte drinks but no single use cups. There are five aid stations spaced roughly every two miles beginning near mile three. Aid station one serves as the official clothing drop and a medic is stationed near mile seven. Expo and bib pickup occur at Springdale Town Park on the Friday before the race.
Access to the start line is shuttle based and there is no start line parking. Shuttle pickup is provided from multiple locations in Springdale and from designated parking in La Verkin, with post race shuttles returning runners to those areas. All finishers receive a finisher medal; place medals are awarded for top overall and age group finishers. The event maintains course records and distributes awards based on chip time, with overall award contenders required to start in the first wave.
