About the race
The Zion Ultras are multi distance trail events held April 10 and 11, 2027, in Apple Valley, Utah, with start and finish at Ruby Rider Ranch near Smithsonian Butte. Courses run across high desert mesas and connect long stretches of singletrack, slickrock, and exposed desert trails. Terrain includes sustained climbs, narrow rim sections, technical footing, mesa rims above the Virgin River, and varied surfaces such as dirt road, ATV track, washes, and slickrock. Aid stations are fully stocked with hydration, electrolyte mixes, fresh fruit, sweet and salty snacks, and portable restrooms.
Later aid stations may offer hot foods. Medical personnel are stationed at major aid stations and the finish. Crew access and pacer rules vary by distance: crew is permitted for 60K, 100K, and 100 Mile runners; pacers are permitted for 100K and 100 Mile runners and may join only at designated aid stations with visible bibs and required registration. Race operations follow cupless event practices so runners must carry their own cup or hydration system; hot cups are provided for hot drinks.
Required gear includes a headlamp, a hydration system, an offline-accessible course map device, and visible bib placement. Drop bags are allowed for longer distances under size and labeling rules and must be left at the designated location by the night before the race.
