Event Overview
The Zilker Relays is a 10-mile relay race for teams of four runners. It takes place at Zilker Metropolitan Park. Each team member runs a single 2.5-mile loop from a central festival and transition area. The event also includes a separate Marathon Kids Dash for children.
What's Included
A team registration includes entry for four people, a post-race dinner, cold drinks, live music, access to an after-party, custom awards for top teams, and a race t-shirt for each teammate. The event uses chip timing via a relay baton.
Event Logistics
There is a timed competitive category and a "Just for Fun" category. Friends and family are encouraged to attend; they can purchase a separate pass for access to the Athlete's Village area, which offers food and drinks. The race supports the Marathon Kids charity program, and teams are encouraged to fundraise. The event has a strict no-refund policy.
Course and Participation Rules
The course is a loop within Zilker Park. Dogs, bicycles, scooters, and other wheeled or motorized devices are not allowed on the course for safety, with exceptions made for athletes who require them as an accommodation. Children can participate in the main relay if they can complete a 2.5-mile leg, or they can join the dedicated Kid's Dash.
Getting There
Sustainable transportation options are encouraged. Bike parking is available near entrances, and several public bus routes serve stops within four blocks of the park. There is some free public parking available, along with paid ADA parking. Road closures around Zilker Park begin at noon on race day.
