Zilker Relays
The Zilker Relays is a team-based running event held at Zilker Metropolitan Park. The main event features a 10-mile relay race designed for teams of four participants. Each team member completes a 2.5-mile loop that starts and ends at a central festival and transition area. The event focus is on the community experience, combining the relay race with a festival atmosphere that includes live music and refreshments.
Participants can choose between several categories, including a timed competition using chip-integrated relay batons or a "Just for Fun" category. In addition to the adult relay, the event includes a Marathon Kids Dash specifically for children aged 13 and younger. This youth route is an out-and-back course, allowing younger participants to cover a distance of their choosing.
Registration for a four-person team includes:
- 10-mile relay entry
- Team t-shirts for all members
- Post-race dinner and drinks
- Access to the live music festival and after-party
The event serves as a fundraiser for Marathon Kids, a program dedicated to increasing physical activity among children. Attendees who are not racing can access the festival grounds by purchasing a pass for the Athlete's Village. For safety reasons, bicycles, scooters, and pets are not permitted on the race course, though leashed pets are allowed in the general festival area. The venue is accessible via public transportation and established city bike trails. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
