Event overview
'Twas The Run Before Christmas is organised by Zig Zag Running and takes place on 14 December 2025 at Brandon Country Park, Bury Road, Brandon, Suffolk, IP27 0SU. The event is limited to 100 entrants and has a minimum age of 18. Entries close on 13 December 2025. The format offers a timed challenge with either a six-hour option or a four-hour option. The course uses a multi-terrain lap of 5.3 km through forested areas, made up of gravel footpaths and some grass.
A standard heavy half marathon is set as 5 laps, with the option on the day to change to 6 or 7 laps. A standard ultra distance is set as 9 laps, with the option to increase up to about 12 laps depending on time available. The event is designed with straightforward logistics and minimal navigation requirements.
Course, facilities and rules
Race HQ and the lap point are at the start, where a water/aid station will be available each lap. The event is cupless - participants must bring their own bottles or cups for refilling. Parking at the park is chargeable; marshals will direct vehicles on the day. There is a baggage area but bags are left at participants' own risk; many competitors pass their cars each lap.
Road trainers are suggested for the terrain, with trail shoes optional depending on prior weather. A bespoke event medal is given at the finish unless a non-event "lucky dip" finisher medal option is chosen. Virtual places are available for those who want the medal but cannot attend in person.
