About the race
The Christmas Canter is a festive running event held at the Suffolk Running Centre in Bury St Edmunds. Offering multiple distance options—5k, 10k, half marathon, full marathon, and ultra—the race features a mass start and a seven-hour cutoff. The course is entirely on road, passing through picturesque villages like Higham, Gazeley, Ashley, Dalham, and Denham, with rolling hills totaling about 600 feet of elevation.
Shorter distances follow an out-and-back route, while longer distances use loops on the Windmill Way and Golding Hills routes. Aid stations with drinks and snacks are available every 10k, and parking is included. Participants receive bespoke medals, and the event encourages festive fancy dress.
