Christmas Canter
The Christmas Canter is a multi-distance running event held at the Suffolk Running Centre in Bury St Edmunds. Participants can choose from several distance options, ranging from short courses to endurance lengths. The event features a seven-hour cutoff time and follows a mass start format. Course layouts vary depending on the selected distance:
- 5k and 10k: Out and back routes using the Mount Barrow section.
- Half Marathon: A single loop utilizing the Hargrave Half course.
- Full Marathon: Two loops of the half marathon course.
- Ultra: A combination of the marathon loops plus a run to the 5k turnaround point.
The Race HQ, also known as Base Camp, is situated at the start and lap point. An aid station providing water, drinks, and snacks is located at Base Camp and positioned every 10k along the route. This is a cupless event, and participants are required to bring their own bottles or cups for refilling at the stations.
Parking is provided at the venue and is included in the entry price. Finishers receive either a bespoke medal designed for the event or a selection from previous medals if the lucky dip option is chosen. While it is not a requirement, the organizers encourage participants to wear fancy dress in the spirit of the season. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
