Valley of the Owls Run
The Valley of the Owls Run takes place in the village of Ousden, Suffolk, a location known for its countryside scenery and some of the oldest roads in England. The event is headquartered at the Suffolk Running Centre in Bury St Edmunds, which serves as the base camp, start line, and lap point for the various courses.
Participants can choose from several distance options:
- 5 km
- 10 km
- Half Marathon
- Full Marathon
- Ultra Marathon
The 5 km and 10 km distances utilize the Goldings Hills route. These courses follow an out-and-back format, where runners are turned around at specific points. The Half Marathon is a single loop of the Dalham Kiln route, while the Full Marathon consists of two loops. The Ultra Marathon includes two loops plus an additional run to the 5 km turnaround point.
The event operates with a seven-hour cut-off time. An aid station providing water, drinks, and snacks is located at the base camp and accessible every 10 km along the route. This is a cupless event, meaning participants must bring their own bottles or cups for refilling. For safety reasons, only bone conductor headphones are permitted. Entry includes on-site parking and a choice of either a bespoke event medal or a lucky dip finisher medal from previous events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
