About the race
The Zig Zag Marathon and Half are road races held at the Suffolk Running Centre, Church Road, Bury St Edmunds, IP29 5AX. The event uses measured, labelled routes and includes on-course support and parking as part of entry. The full marathon uses the officially measured Kirtling route. It is a single large loop, fully on road with 360 m of climb, and elevation between 35 m and 123 m.
The half marathon uses the Windmill route, a single loop on road with 217 m of climb and elevation between 49 m and 109 m. A GPX file for the course is available from the course tab. There is an aid station with drinks and nibbles approximately every 10 km. Race HQ and the base camp are located at the start and lap point and host the water/aid station.
Parking is included in the entry price. Finishers receive a bespoke event medal or, if the lucky dip finisher option is chosen, a medal selected from previous finishers. The event is cupless so participants should bring their own bottle or cup. Dogs and buggies are not permitted on the route.
Only bone conductor headphones are allowed. The event has a seven hour cut off and is presented as suitable for runners aiming for a marathon GFA place. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
